Baltimore City Public Schools School Board
The mission of Baltimore City Public Schools (City Schools), in concert with students, families, and
the broader community, is to prepare all students to be responsible citizens and afford them the opportunity to acquire the skills, knowledge, and abilities necessary to make informed decisions
that lead to meaningful and productive lives. To this end, the Board believes that all children can learn and achieve, when given the proper resources and that high standards and expectations must be maintained through a system of accountability for all students, staff and schools. School readiness is critical to success, as is the engagement of parents and families, and business and community members. Each child should be entitled to a high quality education in the least restrictive environment. Respect must be shown to all individuals and to the varied cultures and ethnic groups that make up the City Schools community.
City Schools has defined two overarching goals of the Board, and of Baltimore City Public Schools - improving student achievement and establishing effective management systems in support of quality instruction.
